About Us

Howard and Ginger Bell Bell's Jewelry started in 1947 in Nokomis, Illinois. Howard and Ginger Bell (Doug's Parents) created a business based on high quality merchandise and expert service. Howard Bell was one of the first graduate gemologists in Central Illinois. He was also a graduate of Olsen's College of Watch Making in Chicago. He led the way in repair and servicing of the first Bulova Accutron. Ginger Bell managed to keep the store books and do a lot of the merchandise purchasing while raising two sons: Doug and Scott. Together they developed a sterling reputation in the jewelry industry. This reputation has been passed down to their sons who know that reputable service and quality is what fine jewelry is all about.

In 1992 Bell's Jewelry opened in downtown Decatur. In the tradition of Family-owned and operated businesses, the Bell's put particular emphasis on quality and style in choosing their lines of jewelry and watches. Loose diamond stock is selected by Doug Bell direct from their suppliers in Israel and Antwerp. Because of their low overhead, they are easily able to compete in the high quality diamond market. Loose diamonds are laser engraved to assure proof positive identification, and come with printed laboratory certification.

In 2016 Bell’s Jewelry saw the closing of the last retail store in Decatur. By down-sizing it will allow Doug and Gale an opportunity to slow down and have more family time. Bell’s Jewelry returned to their home town of Morrisonville at 509 Carlin St. with a repair shop that offers all the “In house” services that were offered in Decatur. Even though anything in jewelry or watches is still available, by order, they will carry a limited inventory.

At Bell's, we make every effort to understand what the customer wants. We understand the sentimental feelings and pride our customers take in their precious jewelry.
